Ah gods... how do I put the past weekend into a coherent and cohesive form of explanation.
Alright... I got to finally see Dir en grey again. Most amazing band. Ever.
Milwaukee show...
We got in on the bar right in front of Die's side... between Kyo and Die and wow... I can't describe the feelings that were running through me everytime Die threw us one of his fully charged "You will fucking love me" looks... and I completely and utterly agreed. And I'm not even a Die fangirl... love the man, don't get me wrong and after this weekend he's boosted himself up to tie with Kyo in my regards...
But honestly Milwaukee was a big huge blur for me. I'd been standing outside for 11 hours in 20 degree-ish weather and I think I was on the verge of hypothermia. Add to that the beginnings of a migraine and pure exhaustion and you get me falling asleep on the opening band, held up by the crowd around me. All of it was worth it though when the band hit the stage.
I was fortunate enough to take home a piece of that show in the form of the bassist's Toshiya's pick. I think I'm starting a Toshiya pick collection *added to her pick from Last Tour*.
Sauget aka St. Louis show
We were a bit more well rested for this show. Thank fucking god. We were hesitant about hitting the pit but when we saw just how close we could get I was like hell yeah and headed straight for Die's side again since the night before was so amazing. And so began the hour long wait for the bands to start... we cracked jokes, realized our feet were NOT recovered from the previous night and that someone around us had horrible B.O.
So yeah hour later the opening band, Human Abstract, came on. They were amazing and even with some technical difficulties the band performed well. The crowd seemed fairly into them. Some guy next to me was screaming all the lyrics.
Finally though they exited the stage and then it was time for the roadies to hit the stage... seems the "Kyodie" has a permanent nick name. Poor guy. "Hot Roadie" was still hot.. yep. We were all "Can we has Diru now plz?" Finally it happened.
Sa Bir came on and it was just like Chicago House of Blues part two in that the crowd went fucking nuts and I had to battle to keep my spot. I kept getting pressed very intimately into the people in front of me and used this ramp thing near the bar to plant my foot and send the people pushing into my ass flying for a few precious moments. I love the pit.
So yeah key moments that made the night amazing. Second song in, fuck me if I remember WHAT it was but I started looking at Kaoru and he was SMILING.. and of course I had to find out why and I glance to where he's looking and it's at DIE. They're playing together and grinning on the stage and was like omg awwwww. Kaoru so rarely smiles lately that I was so fricking happy just to SEE it. Die was a-fucking-mazing. He was happy, made tons of flirty eye contact with his group of loyal fans in front of him, smiled at you if you smiled at him and yeah... just so damn beautiful.
So the concert went on pretty much like that for the entire show... then came the last song... IIID Empire again... and in that song... that one amazing song, Kaoru came over to Die's side. I swear my heart stopped. The man I worship and adore was in front of us. It was like being transported back again to Family Values Tour. The leadersama pose was there, him throwing his hands up and grinning at us like the badass he is. He LOOKED at us... made eyecontact with us. I grinned and screamed and reached for him like a good fan should and just about melted inside when he dropped his pick by accident and so grabbed one of Die's off his mic, throwing Die a grin as he then played with it. I tried to dive for that pic when he tossed it to the crowd. Could you imagine the awesomeness of that pick?
Anywho, the show ended and I made my way over to Britti and Jen after trying to scour the floor for something, anything... nothing :(... Got my cd from Britti and got ready for the meet and greet. Toshiya and Shinya. I was so happy to meet two more members of the band (since I've already met Kyo) and even more happy for Britti. I got their autograph, grinned and told Toshiya hi when he said it to me (so cute) and told them both thank you.
So yeah we headed out, and I nearly passed out in Steak and Shake. After a crappy night of sleep we headed back, and I'm still high with the memories of it all.
Thanks Dir en grey for yet another amazing experience!
